Mandalika SPAM set to be exploited before MotoGP in 2022

Later, the water generated by the system can be immediately consumed.

C Lombok, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) – The government of Lombok Central District, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB), has plans to operate the Mandalika Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) ahead of MotoGP on the Mandalika circuit in March 2022.

“Currently, the SPAM Mandalika is under construction. Later, the water generated by the system can be immediately consumed,” the head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Lalu Wiranata district said on Friday.

Wiranata noted that the management of the SPAM – with water from the Pengga dam in the West Praya sub-district – will be entrusted to the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM).

SPAM Mandalika was created to meet the drinking water needs of residents of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Mandalika and its surroundings.

“The system can produce 200 liters of clean water per second. About 70 percent of it will be used to meet the needs of residents of the Mandalika SEZ,” noted the head of the regional agency.

The project costs around 200 billion rupees. Funding was provided by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.

Construction of SPAM started in early 2021. Currently, work on SPAM is 70% complete.
