French MotoGP: Miller, Bagnaia on their way to Le Mans | MotoGP

The Ducati Lenovo team heads to Le Mans this weekend on the back of a perfect double for Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia in Jerez, also putting the Italian at the top of the world championship.

Bagnaia is the only rider so far this season to have finished in the top six of four heats, including second in the last two events, giving him a two-point advantage over Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo.

Bagnaia qualified last year with a 7th place in the dry race for Pramac at Le Mans, but could only score 13th in the wet race.

“I’m really delighted to be back in action this weekend,” said Bagnaia.

“In the last two Grands Prix we have been able to achieve good results on tracks where we have suffered in the past. I hope we will continue to be as competitive on the next two circuits. [Le Mans and Mugello], which are more favorable to the characteristics of our bike.

“Last year at Le Mans I managed to qualify seventh, although I struggled with the low temperatures at the start of the weekend. I felt strong, but the rain then disrupted my race.

“We will see how he does this weekend. My feeling with the Desmosedici continues to be very good, so I am confident that I can have a good race even in wet conditions.”

Miller’s first Ducati victory put him in sixth place in the World Championship, 27 points behind his teammate, after suffering a DNF in the previous round in Portimao, where he was also riding after a recent pump operation. to the arm.

The Australian is generally doing well at Le Mans, finishing fourth for Pramac in 2018 and 2019, then battling for a podium last year in the wet until a late technical issue.

“I’m really happy to be back racing in France this weekend!” Miller said. “Last year I had a great French GP. I finished second in qualifying and after a good start I stayed in the leading group. Unfortunately, with seven laps to go, I had to give up due to a technical problem.

“Winning the Spanish GP two weeks ago definitely boosted my confidence. My feeling with the bike is good, I haven’t had any problem with the right forearm now that he’s had surgery, so I I’m convinced I can have another good race. weekend “.
