Bees rally for a 7-4 win
July 27, 2022 – Pacific Coast League (PCL) – Salt Lake Bees Press Release
The Salt Lake Bees rallied from an early four-point deficit to beat the Reno Aces 7-4 on Tuesday night. Reno scored four runs in the second inning against Bees starter Daniel Davis, but five relief pitchers combined to pitch seven scoreless innings to stop the Aces the rest of the game. Oliver Ortega (1-0) struck back three in the seventh for the win and Kyle Barraclough kept Reno off the board in the ninth for his second save of the season.
Jack Mayfield started the comeback with a three-run homer from opposite field to right field to bring the Bees within one. Salt Lake tied the game in the seventh, as Jake Gatewood doubled and scored on a David Fletcher single. They took the lead in the eighth on a David MacKinnon triple, which kicked off on a Matt Thaiss single. Gatewood would give the Bees a little extra ninth cushion with his tenth homer of the season. Jose Rojas scored a fifth-inning bunt single to extend his hitting streak to 14 games.
