Banbury-based Prodrive completes a double at Rallye du Maroc
Covering 1,575km of flat-out stages over six days, it’s the first time a manufacturer has achieved a one-two finish on a WRRC event, making the celebrations at the finish line all the more special.
For the Banbury-based Prodrive team, this victory confirms its engineering prowess on the international stage after winning FIA events in the World Rally Championship, World Endurance Championship and now the World Rally Championship raids.
Sébastien Loeb/Fabian Lurquin won their second stage of the Rallye du Maroc as they returned to Agadir after driving on the famous Plage Blanche for more than 10 km.
Prodrive EcoPower fuel was used in all three Prodrive Hunters, the sustainable fuel that cuts CO2 emissions by 80% on the tough, dusty and rocky Sahara Desert stages.
The result confirms the second and fourth places of the BRX team in the Dakar Rally 2022.
BRX team principal Gus Beteli said: “It’s a fantastic result to do a one-two the first time we came here on Rally Morocco.
“We couldn’t be happier to win these trophies but also in preparation for the Dakar Rally in January. It’s been a huge effort from everyone to run the cars on a very tough rally, so we’re all really, really happy.
